The Ix'Meglyakuk ride utahraptors in the Dygon Beastlands, and their bond with the mounts is older than any single rider, cut into the line itself rather than earned across a life. Lizardfolk are Gaea's reptile-kind, named cold-blooded at the Birth of Man and unable to drift from the name she gave them. The Ix'Meglyakuk are that same reptile-kind with a second name laid over the first.
Their name-cutters tell it plainly. When the first lizardfolk in the Dygon took and kept raptor clutches, one of them cut a binding-name to hold raptor and rider together, and the name did far more than join two animals. A true-name does not negotiate. It rewrote the people it was spoken over, and every Ix'Meglyakuk born since has come into the world already keyed to the raptor: a throat built to shape the subsonic clicks and trills only a raptor hears, and scales carrying the same mottled pattern as the mount each rider is paired to. The binding bred true. The closeness other peoples mistake for a lifetime's training was decided before the rider was born.
The training still happens. Young Ix'Meglyakuk are paired with raptor hatchlings and grow up alongside them until the line between rider and mount is hard to find, and a grown Ix'Meglyakuk separated from its raptor still moves with the fluid, low-slung grace of one, formidable on foot as well as mounted.
