Bluesong Bay is a large inlet on the western coast of Central Aboyinzu, notable primarily for who doesn't use it. Despite being the natural maritime gateway for the Kadroka region, the bay's coastline is controlled entirely by the Tytheri blood orcs, who have no interest in sea trade and actively prevent anyone else from establishing ports.
Geography
The bay extends roughly 80 miles inland from the Untouched Sea, with a width of 40-50 miles at its mouth narrowing to about 20 miles at its deepest point. The waters are calm compared to the open sea, protected by the Sokorgül peninsula to the north.
Coastline Features:
- Northern Shore: Where Sokorgül forest meets the water. Dense woodland comes nearly to the waterline. No settlements.
- Eastern Shore: Scrubland and grassland of Tythikerys. The Royko River empties here, creating a marshy delta.
- Southern Shore: The Mumbling Forest dominates this stretch, its trees growing to the water's edge.
- A small island: Sits in the northern portion of the bay, unnamed and uninhabited.
The Name
Sailors from distant ports who have entered the bay report an unusual acoustic phenomenon: the water seems to carry sound in strange ways, producing a low, melodic resonance that some describe as singing. The effect is subtle, easy to dismiss as wind or waves, but persistent enough that multiple independent accounts describe it.
Whether this is a natural property of the bay's shape and currents, an effect of the nearby Mumbling Forest, or something else entirely remains unknown. The Tytheri, who avoid the water, have no explanation.
Strategic Importance
Bluesong Bay should be one of the most valuable maritime assets in southwestern Aboyinzu. It offers:

- River access deep into the interior via the Royko
- Proximity to the productive Kadrokan savanna
Instead, it sits empty. The Tytheri have no naval tradition and no interest in developing one. They control the coast purely to deny it to Kadroka, a strategy that has worked for centuries.
Kadrokan Frustration
Every generation, some Kadrokan leader proposes seizing a foothold on the bay. Every generation, the plan fails. The problems are straightforward:

No Navy: Kadroka has no maritime tradition and would need to build a fleet from scratch, using materials hauled over the Ramakemizi Mountains.

The bay remains tantalizing and unreachable, a constant reminder of what the Tytheri blockade costs Kadroka.
What Lives There
The bay itself supports typical coastal marine life: fish, crustaceans, seabirds. The waters are clean and productive.
More unusual reports include:
- Large shapes moving in the deeper portions of the bay, never clearly seen
- Lights beneath the water at night, particularly near the Mumbling Forest shore
- The unnamed island occasionally appearing to have structures on it that aren't there when approached
Whether these are real phenomena, tricks of the "singing" water, or sailor's tales is unclear. Few ships enter the bay, and fewer still linger.

For those arriving from the Untouched Sea, Bluesong Bay presents a deceptively welcoming appearance: calm waters, a protected anchorage, apparent emptiness. The dangers are not immediately visible.
Ships that land are unlikely to be attacked at the waterline, since the Tytheri avoid the coast itself, but any party moving inland will quickly encounter orc patrols. The orcs may not use the sea, but they watch it, and strangers are not welcome.
The Mumbling Forest shore is technically safer from orcs but presents its own uncertainties. The forest does not welcome visitors.
