The Ix'Tyrann are the most numerous and widespread of the Lizardfolk, dwelling in the swampy regions of Da Trang. Their society is built on strength and brutality, with villages ruled by the strongest chieftains who maintain power through displays of savage might. They are viewed by most civilized races as the embodiment of lizardfolk savagery, a reputation they have earned through centuries of fierce territorial conflicts.
Ix'Tyrann culture values survival above all else. Weakness is not tolerated, and those who cannot contribute to the tribe's strength are cast out or consumed. This harsh philosophy has produced a people who are incredibly resilient but struggle to form alliances with other races. Even those Ix'Tyrann who become adventurers and fight for noble causes are rarely seen as heroes. Their methods are simply too brutal for polite society to accept.
Their scales range from muddy brown to dark green, providing natural camouflage in their swampy homes. Battle scars are worn with pride, each one proof that a body took the wound and kept moving.
The making
Da Trang holds the bones of a titan somewhere beneath its black water, and long ago, in a season when the cold settled in and the hunting failed, an Ix'Tyrann clan dug down to the marrow and ate. Titan bone keeps its charge where lesser bone rots away, and what this one still carried was the dead giant's own measure: size. It passed into the clan through the eating and stayed in them. They came up from that feast larger than any lizardfolk had been, and their children have come out the same in every generation since. The bulk arrived with a tether. A body that big needs more heat than it can hold on its own, and the only warmth that feeds it is the warmth of Da Trang's drowned ground; an Ix'Tyrann who leaves the swamp for cold country slows, weakens, and does not come back strong. So they hold the swamp the only way a people who cannot leave it know how, by being the largest thing in it, and they have never stopped doing to the weak among them what their founders did to the bones below.
