The Pearly Mountains arc across SW Urok's midsection, older and more weathered than the Tethryns to the north. Millennia of tropical rain have rounded their peaks into soft shapes that gleam pale gray in certain light—hence the name. The range separates the northern forests and river valleys from the southern territories where Xoth holds sway.
These mountains are riddled with caves. Some are natural limestone formations carved by underground rivers. Others show signs of ancient habitation—smooth walls, carved steps, chambers that once held purpose. The deepest caves connect to tunnel systems that run beneath the entire range, linking to whatever lurks below Maun and Wisgarrd.
The Pearly Mountains' western extent reaches almost to the coast, sheltering Phiona Bay from southern storms. Their eastern slopes descend into the Pyrgion Forest and Xoth territory. In between, the Thyogres River has carved a pass that serves as the main route between the northern and southern halves of SW Urok.
The Myestrones—"hundred streams" in an old trade tongue—drain the northern faces, eventually feeding the Freolian River. The Vyandrik and Prelapon rivers flow west toward Phiona Bay, their valleys dotted with villages that have maintained independence by being too poor and too remote for anyone to bother conquering.
