The green heart of Gorath. The Jungles of Titania sprawl across central Gorath between the Lucenia and Droaz rivers, stretching from the Myjornis Mountains in the north to the coastal lowlands in the south. This is where Gorath was born, where the empire's wealth grows, and where most of its million citizens live. It is also where Gorath arms itself. The legions muster and provision in the Titania heartland before they march north to the Nashua front or west toward the Moon Wilds, and the river-roads that float timber in peacetime carry soldiers in war.
Despite centuries of settlement, the jungle remains dominant. Gorathi civilization exists in clearings carved from the green—along rivers, around fortress-cities, in the logged-over Purlin Hills—while the forest surrounds everything, always pushing back. Three seasons mark the year: the Wet, when daily rains flood the lowlands and halt campaigns; the Dry, when logging, agriculture, and warfare resume; and the Transition, when the jungle's creatures are most active and unpredictable. Travel by river is fast and relatively safe; overland trails require constant re-clearing against vegetation that reclaims paths within weeks.
Between the settled corridors stretches true wilderness—vast stretches never logged, never mapped, hosting predators that have learned humans are prey and ruins of unknown origin half-buried in the undergrowth. The Skaag speak of tunnel networks beneath the jungle floor connecting ancient sites. The Gorathi tell themselves they've conquered the Jungles of Titania. The logging road into the Purlin Hills has been cleared and reclaimed by the undergrowth eleven times in living memory; the Gorathi do not count this as losing.
