Running north-south through the heart of Titania, the Purlin Hills provide the closest thing the jungle has to highlands. The terrain rises a few hundred feet above the lowland average, not enough to count as mountains but enough to break the endless canopy and allow some respite from the crushing humidity.
The hills are Gorath's most productive logging region. The slopes grow slower-growing, harder wood than the lowlands, and the slightly drier conditions make year-round operations possible. Logging camps cluster throughout the Purlins, connected by trails that require constant clearing to remain passable.
The hills are also rough territory for anything trying to move overland. Gorathi criminals, escaped slaves, and others fleeing authority often head for the Purlins, where the broken terrain and dense forest make pursuit difficult. The legions maintain bounty hunters who specialize in tracking through the hills, a dangerous and profitable profession.
