A deep inlet on the northeastern coast, where the Beastlands jungle meets the Krell-infested territories to the east. The bay takes its name from the howler colonies that infest the coastal trees—thousands of primates whose screaming can be heard miles out to sea.
The howlers are not ordinary monkeys. Something in the Beastlands has made them larger, more aggressive, and disturbingly coordinated. Ships anchoring in the bay have been swarmed by howlers swimming from shore, the creatures boarding vessels and stealing anything not secured. The attacks seem almost organized—diversionary groups drawing attention while others raid the holds.
Local Ix'Meglyakuk avoid the bay entirely. They call it Kraak-Shrill, which translates roughly to "the screaming water," and consider the howlers touched by something unnatural. Whether this is superstition or genuine knowledge, the lizardfolk won't say.
The Wreck Garden: Deeper in the bay, past the howler territories, lies a collection of sunken and beached vessels—perhaps thirty ships accumulated over centuries. Some were driven ashore by storms. Others seem to have been deliberately grounded, their crews fleeing something aboard. The wrecks contain salvageable cargo, but reaching them means passing through howler territory.
