The Greater Satyr are the warlike, disciplined strain of the satyr race, and their heavier build was cut into them in a single rite. Satyrs are Gaea's goat-kind, named into a body that walled life cannot dress. The Greater Satyr carry a second mark over that first one. Their tradition holds that a war-leader of the old conquests cut a war-name over an entire host on the eve of a campaign, one stroke meant to make the host unbreakable, and the name set into every body standing under it: a full head of added height, heavier bone and muscle, horns grown into weapons. The host won. The mark bred true in the children of everyone who had stood there, and the Greater Satyr descend from that founding host, carrying its shape and its discipline both.
They view war as the ultimate celebration, a festival of strength and dominance. Their armies march to the beat of war-drums and the skirl of pipes, terrifying enemies before the first blow lands. Where lesser satyrs spread chaos, the Greater Satyr funnel it into military force, organized into the rigid caste hierarchy that has held since that first host took the field.
