The Blitzlings possess the strange and dangerous property of accumulating massive amounts of static electricity in their bodies before discharging it all at once in devastating electrical bursts. These energetic goblins inhabit the chain of hills south of the Dunes of Kunagi, in the settlement of Shyalaviin.
Their unique physiology makes them both fascinating and hazardous to be around, as they constantly crackle with barely contained electrical energy. When threatened or excited, they can release this stored power in spectacular and deadly displays.
The making
The hills south of the Dunes of Kunagi are dry-lightning country, where the air grounds itself through the sand a hundred times a night. A goblin brood-resonance settled into that charged ground and took the wrong lesson from it. In an ordinary brood the working passes from father to chosen queen as a quiet copy no one can see. In the first Blitzling brood it passed as a spark. The resonance had bound itself to current, and current is the only way it knows how to move now. A Blitzling does not store static by some accident of physiology. The charge is the working itself, banked in the body between one discharge and the next, and a Blitzling who cannot let it go is a brood-line backing up against a closed switch.
