The Vyko are elves who have traversed the planar envelope protecting Alaria from the void beyond. Their skin is a deep purplish indigo, speckled with white points like distant stars, and their hair is either brilliant white or deep black. They possess an incredibly powerful presence that commands attention the moment they enter a room.
These elves reside north of Gorath, having returned from their cosmic journeys with a fundamentally altered perspective on time and existence. Their experience beyond the material plane has granted them both incredible presence and a patience that can seem frustrating to shorter-lived races.
The making
The Vyko were built to leave. The planar envelope around Alaria holds the void out and the living in, and someone wanted elves who could cross it and come back whole. A maker worked void-stuff into a stock of elves, a binding that lets the body hold together where nothing else can, and the working left its mark in the skin: the deep indigo of the gap between planes, flecked white with the lights that hang in it. It bred true. Every Vyko is born void-marked and envelope-proof, fit for a crossing whether or not one is ever asked of them. What the maker meant them to bring back went unrecorded, and the errand, if there was one, was abandoned. The patience that other races find so trying is the residue of that: a people built for a journey, kept waiting, and long past expecting the order to go.
