A fortified watchtower northwest of Erebinthias, overlooking the approaches to Wisdom Creek and the ruins of Argysis beyond. The name dates to the Dragon Betrayal. This is where Hephakean scouts saw the smoke rising off Argysis and understood that the kingdom across the passes was being killed.

The warning that should have come from here came too late. The watchers were blamed, and the survivors among them were executed; the tower took the name Traitor's Watch and has carried it for two centuries. Whether the failure was treachery or honest disaster the in-world record never settled, and the men who could have answered were put to death before anyone thought to ask carefully. What is certain is that Hephake was not ready for the refugees who arrived behind the smoke, and the kingdom needed a place to set the blame.

Today the tower is the forward post for Hephake's intelligence work against Argysis. The garrison is small and well trained, set to watch dragon movements, count refugees, and catch Rothogomos's agents before they reach Hephakean ground. Duty here is read as a punishment or an honor depending entirely on who hands it out.
