The Dragon's Teeth rise from the sea in the northwestern corner of the Western Isles—a field of obsidian spires jutting from the water at every angle, sharp enough to shred a hull on contact. No fixed channels run between the rocks; crosscurrents shift without warning, dragging vessels into the spires before a crew can correct course. Captains who have sailed near the outer ring report the sound of grinding stone and the smell of brine and ash even on still days.
What makes the Dragon's Teeth truly impassable is Qorgath. The enormous sea creature has claimed these waters as her nesting ground, coiling around her hatch of Erzqin somewhere in the black depths beneath the spires. Ancient and territorial, she surfaces to destroy any ship that penetrates too far into the rocks. Her Erzqin—creatures born of the same volcanic dark as the islands—range through the outer waters as sentinels, turning back or sinking vessels before they reach the inner field. Sailors who have escaped describe them as serpentine, black-scaled, and fast.
The Dragon's Teeth appear on every serious chart as a solid red mark: do not enter.
