The Husakas are nomadic scorpion riders who traverse the endless dunes in search of the precious red dust that gives their culture its power and purpose. This crimson powder, harvested from rare desert blooms that grow only where the sand has been saturated by weathered and ground-down titan blood and bone, the same material that holds Deoric charge in any inscribed rune, is both blessing and curse to the Husakas people. The handmagic talent the dust awakens is therefore Deoric in kind: the red dust carries residual titan material dissolved into the desert itself over millions of years, and the pathway it opens in the bloodstream is the same pathway titan blood has always opened, only dispersed to the point that the desert itself became the medium.
From childhood, the Husakas consume small amounts of the red dust daily, allowing it to flow through their veins and awaken mystical abilities. The dust is highly addictive, and those who go without it for too long suffer terrible withdrawal that can drive them to madness. This dependency shapes their entire way of life, as they must constantly migrate across the desert following the seasonal blooms and maintaining their sacred harvest.
The Husakas form close bonds with giant scorpions that serve as both mounts and companions, capable of navigating the treacherous desert terrain and defending against the many dangers that lurk beneath the sands.
The making
The Husakas were not always bound to the dust. The binding traces to one founding generation of harvesters, trapped by a failed migration at the bloom-field where the titan-charge ran richest, who lived on nothing but the red dust through a long dry season. Because the dust carries a real Deoric charge, what happened to them was not poisoning but definition. The charge did not pass through their blood that season so much as settle into it, and the children born afterward came already needing it. That is the breed-true moment the clans still count their generations from. Every Husakas since carries the dependence from birth, opening the same Deoric pathway titan blood has always opened, now written into the line itself rather than taken fresh each lifetime.
