The Bledreon are a human people of the arid lands of Sheîr, hardened to the harsh sun and the blowing sands. They are instantly recognizable by their dual-lidded eyes: a second clear membrane that draws across the eye to keep the blowing sand out. Every human carries the vestige of it, but in those who grow up under Sheîr's storms it thickens and toughens over the years until it works as a true lid, letting them see through weather that blinds anyone else. A Bledreon child raised away from the desert never develops it; an outsider who settles in the deep sand long enough will. Their skin darkens the same way, burned deep by a life under the open sun. They are known for their endurance and their stoicism. The Bledreon are a people of the human, their identity forged by desert life in Sheîr, not a separate biological lineage.
Bledreon culture values preservation and water above all else. They are masters of desert survival, able to find sustenance where others would see only death. Their cities are marvels of cooling architecture, designed to catch the wind and hide from the sun. A Bledreon never wastes water, not a single drop, and they view those who do with barely concealed contempt.
