Kareshi founded the Waterdark order in the last decades of the Wyrmward and was still its head the night it cut every dragon-bond in Adron. The order was small and strange even then, drawn together out of the few Nagashi who could hold water and darkness in the same working, and Kareshi gathered them at the fortress in the Gozwin Mountains for a reason the realm did not learn until it was over. The bonds had begun to sour. Riders sickened, dragons turned away, and the kingdom had no cure for either. Kareshi found one. It ended the Wyrmward in a single night and cost Adron the dragons it had ridden for an age.
The realm has held to one account of Kareshi for four centuries: the master who saw the souring spreading and chose the unbearable cure, the hand that ended the riders to save the riders. When Adron afterward demanded that someone answer for the loss of its dragons, Kareshi gave them the order's shadow-arm, the darkness adepts whose work had run closest to the souring, and watched them struck from the house-rolls and put out of the kingdom for good. That casting-out is remembered as the Megélren Exile. The order survived it, quieter and far smaller, and Waterdark has kept its founder's name and very little of its founder's own account ever since.
