Vaelos

Daemon

Domain: war, honor, conquest; dead cohort (Golden Age); the formal war deity whose theology helped ignite the God War.

Type
Daemon

Domains: War, honor, conquest.

Era of ascension: Golden Age of Man (~160,000 years ago). Cohort: dead. Died: God War & Long Winter (~75,000 years ago), killed by the very conflict his theology glorified.

Worshipped by: The warrior aristocracies of the Golden Age civilizations — kings' armies, professional soldier classes, those for whom war was a sacred vocation. No living culture maintains his worship. (The worships edge is authored downstream on the worshipper, not here.)

Vaelos did not cause the God War — the God War was the product of every major deity's followers competing for resources and dominance simultaneously — but his theology of honorable conquest gave the warring factions their vocabulary. Every army in the God War claimed to be fighting in a way Vaelos would sanction. The god himself died with all the others when Dyos's follower triggered the Kajiit eruption; whether he found the end honorable is not recorded.
