Ix'Vashlu

Daemon

Domains: poisoner's patience, oyster-and-blade, the pearl that kills; current cohort; Ix'Vasyla patron of the slow kill.

Type
Daemon

Domains: Poisoner's patience, oyster-and-blade, the pearl that kills.

Era of ascension: Great Expansion (~2,500 BSD). Cohort: current. Ix'Vashlu accreted with the Ix'Vasyla shift from broad-coast hunting to specialist oyster-bed cultivation. Once a culture knew which mollusc concentrated which toxin, the daemon of the waiting became theologically necessary.

Worshipped by: The Ix'Vasyla lizardfolk. Their poisoners are also their oyster-tenders; the same hand that opens the shell prepares the blade. (The worships edge is authored downstream on the worshipper, not here.)

Íritiv's theft is one heartbeat fast. Ix'Vashlu's kill is six months slow. A target is dosed at a feast in spring; in autumn the target dies of what looks like ordinary kidney failure. The Eloweir poison-democracy of the elves takes its dose in measured civic ceremony; the Husakas venom-rite affirms the sting; Ix'Vashlu does neither, and asks only that the poisoner outlast the poison's working time without losing nerve. The Ix'Vasyla word for impatience and the word for failure are the same word, and Ix'Vashlu is the reason.
