Ix'Moreth

Daemon

Domains: crystal-light, contemplative stillness, the unmoved eye; current cohort; Ix'Lorett patron of the long looking.

Type
Daemon

Domains: Crystal-light, contemplative stillness, the unmoved eye.

Era of ascension: Great Expansion (~2,800 BSD). Cohort: current. Ix'Moreth rose as the Ix'Lorett established their crystal-mountain holds and the practice of long looking — meditation against a face of light-refracting stone for days at a time — moved from individual discipline to collective rite.

Worshipped by: The Ix'Lorett lizardfolk. Their adepts spend weeks unmoving in the crystal galleries; the gallery is the temple, the stone is the icon, and Ix'Moreth is the inhabitant of the stillness that the rite produces. (The worships edge is authored downstream on the worshipper, not here.)

Velorin's cosmology comes from reading. Ix'Moreth's piety comes from not reading. An Ix'Lorett adept does not study the crystal — the crystal studies the adept, and the daemon watches what is left after a long enough stare. The mountain holds nothing the surface world can carry away: no doctrine, no scripture, no rite that can be performed elsewhere. The mountain is the rite. The lizardfolk of the lowlands respect the practice and do not pretend to understand it.
