Brethis

Daemon

Domain: night, dreams, prophecy; dead cohort (Golden Age); goddess of the dreaming mind.

Type
Daemon

Domains: Night, dreams, prophecy.

Era of ascension: Golden Age of Man (~175,000 years ago). Cohort: dead. Died: God War & Long Winter (~75,000 years ago), when the Long Winter made night indistinguishable from day and dreams — the primary medium of her worship — became a source of terror rather than guidance.

Worshipped by: Dream-readers, prophetic traditions, those who interpreted the night's messages across Golden Age civilizations. No living culture maintains her worship. (The worships edge is authored downstream on the worshipper, not here.)

Brethis occupied the complementary position to Sorveth in the Golden Age pantheon — he governed the day, she the night, and together they structured the full cycle. When the Long Winter collapsed that cycle and the sky never properly cleared, the ordered opposition of day and night that her theology depended on ceased to function. Dream-reading continued in the Long Winter's darkness, but the dreams that came were not hers.
