The Hurtzsh flows southeast through Chitinwood, eventually emptying into Anemone Sound. Its waters run murky with beetle-waste and decaying chitin, giving it a brackish, faintly metallic taste. The river serves as a natural highway through the beetle-forest—most creatures avoid the water, making it safer than the forest floor.
Rafts can navigate the Hurtzsh, though the journey is unpleasant. The smell is memorable. The sound of beetles clattering on the banks is constant. And occasionally, something large surfaces to investigate the disturbance before submerging again.
