A cluster of shallow lakes in the southern plains, fed by seasonal streams that flow down from the desert highlands before the land dries completely. The lakes expand in the wet season and shrink to muddy pools in the dry, but they never vanish entirely.

Avil Lakes mark the southern extent of reliable water—and therefore the southern extent of mammoth territory. The herds come here during migrations, and the Silzar have learned to read the lakes' water levels as omens for the season ahead. High water means good grazing; low water means hard times coming.

The lakes also serve as a neutral meeting point with the desert traders who bring metal up from the south. Neither side trusts the other enough to enter their territory, so they meet at Avil Lakes, conduct business quickly, and part ways.
