Tangiern's primary trade artery. Rising in the southern Fragenstor Mielthøn, it runs through the kingdom's heartland past Nøsen and on into the Void, carrying timber and fur down to the coast on barge and raft. It was named for the snowshoe hares thick along its banks, though the foresters claim the name is really about how fast it floods, here one moment and everywhere the next.
The Rabbit is also the kingdom's road for the dead. A body from the interior is rushed downriver to reach Tirenthar and the next ebb tide before it turns, and a death high up the headwaters in deep winter, when the river is locked under ice and the coast is weeks away, is the quiet horror every Tangier family knows by heart. Those dead cannot be brought down in time to be given to the Void.
