High in the central mountains, Clawsnatch is the largest body of water in the range—a cold, deep lake filling an ancient crater or collapsed cave system. The water is clear but dark, visibility dropping to nothing below thirty feet.

Local legend says something lives in the depths. The Wardens neither confirm nor deny, but they don't patrol the lake shore, and they discourage expeditions. Whatever truth the stories hold, the lake is genuinely eerie—unnaturally still, strangely quiet, with a tendency to produce thick fog on windless mornings.

The claw-shaped peninsula that gives the lake its name extends from the western shore, a narrow spit of rock covered in the same green moss that marks the mountains.
