The third crater in The Impact Craters cluster, Emtus is the strangest of the three. The crater itself is unmistakable when viewed from above, but something about it resists direct approach. Travellers who set out toward it tend to find themselves walking past, their attention drifting without conscious intent. Mapping expeditions have returned with contradictory accounts: some insisting the crater is shallow and empty, others describing ruins at its center, still others unable to recall reaching it at all.
No one has produced a reliable chart of Emtus's interior. The prevailing scholarly view is that whatever fell here struck something more fundamental than the ground itself.
